- Promote sustainable solutions in the public and private sphere, disseminate conceptual and practical knowledge, training materials and create awareness on sustainability.
- Host an international, interdisciplinary biannual conference on sustainable development for scientists, advocates, and public policy and industry professionals.
- Facilitate networking among researchers and professionals engaged in the field, advance cutting edge sustainability solutions, and enhance the profile of the Centre.

The Center aims to become the principal resource center for sustainable development in India.

It will develop a network of leading experts and researchers on sustainability.

- A high-profile Lecture Series, brings prominent speakers in sustainability to IITGN every year.
- A Monthly Sustainability Seminar Series (SSS)

- Annual Sustainability Fair on sustainability themes to bring scholars, NGOs, corporates, activists and technical groups together.
- Workshops (2-3 times a year) in high impact areas with the aim of developing white papers or other publications.
