Assistant Professor

BTech: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, 2011
MSc(Engg.): Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, 2014
PhD: The University of Texas at Austin, 2018
Email: hariganesh -AT- iitgn.ac.in

Research Interests: Smart Manufacturing, Model Predictive Control, Optimization, Building Energy Management, Indoor Air Quality

Prof Hari Ganesh’s expertise lies in the general area of Process Systems Engineering. His  PhD work at the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) focused on Smart Manufacturing, combining first-principles and data-driven modelling approaches, numerical techniques, predictive control, and optimization to improve the operation of manufacturing systems. The study involved modelling, optimization, and control of an industrial austenitization furnace. At UT Austin, he also worked on model predictive control of indoor pollutants. As a postdoc at Texas A&M, he worked on modelling and multiparametric model predictive control of an industrial air separation unit.

At IIT Gandhinagar, Prof Hari Ganesh works on projects under the following three broad themes: (1) Modelling, Control, and Optimization of Manufacturing Systems (Smart Manufacturing), (2) Model-Based Building Energy Management (Smart Buildings), and (3) Theoretical Research in Model Predictive Control.
