SDG 1: No poverty

IIT Gandhinagar provides financial assistance to its students through a wide range of scholarships and financial assistance schemes. During the AY 2020-21, there were nearly 750 beneficiaries including undergraduate and postgraduate students benefiting from the financial support.

Generous financial grants are given to students with economically weaker backgrounds to purchase laptops for attending the online classes. Laptop grants to the tune of INR 30 lakhs have been disbursed to nearly 80 students based on their financial needs, during the pandemic.

During Covid-19, the institute provided facilities for its community members who were covid positive (staff, faculty, students or outsourced workers etc.) with basic medical services and rent-free accommodation at the institute guest house, which has been converted into a Covid care facility. More details can be found in this Link. Students were given the option of staying in the hostel and accordingly messes were fully operational for the students who stayed back in the campus. As an extra precaution to ensure smooth mess operations third party employees were given the option to stay inside the campus with extra incentive.
